Update #1 included accommodation, and we have again included in this update below.  We have heard on the chirpvine that there is limited accommodation left.  We have spoken to the Country Club Resort today, and there is still plenty of accommodation options available. See page 4 for accommodation options available.  

The venue has “blanked” out all the available accommodation to allow attendees to book, unbooked rooms will be released to the general public on 31 March 2024, so if looking direct online rather than using the links provided or calling you may have been advised that there is no accommodation available. 

The Venue has confirmed, it requires a credit card to secure the accommodation booking, no charges will be processed until 48 hours prior to arrival, cancellation is available until 48 hrs prior to arrival to avoid cancellation fees.

How to book your accommodation:

Online Booking:

Click on the yellow provided for the Resort: Resort (where the show/bird room will be) or the Villas: Villas which is a short distance away from the resort with a courtesy bus available between the two options.

Follow the prompts, adding your credit card details to secure the booking.

If you wish to make additional room bookings, if using the online option, each room will need to be booked separately.  You can add notes to the booking or ring Reservations the next day to request any additional details ie two rooms beside each other.  

Phone Booking:

If you wish to phone to secure your accommodation, call Reservations on 1800 635 344  Monday to Friday 8am to 7 pm.  Outside these hours the call may go through to Reception and they may or may not be able to assist. 

When calling please quote the Group Code – Group National Budgerigar Show 2024.   

A credit card will be required to secure the booking.

To assist with travel arrangements:

Travel Distance  from : LAUNCESTON AIRPORT TO VENUE -  Approximately 15 kms – 13 minutes 

Travel Distance from Spirit Of Tasmania (vessel) Terminal or Devonport Airport – Approximately 96 km (1 hr) 

We will advise in later updates, links to transport companies for pickup from airport to assist with your arrangements. 

Zone Secretaries/ Bird Carers – As a credit card is required to secure the accommodation booking, BCT has not reserved any rooms for zone bird carers.

Further details of bird carers, and your Zone travel arrangements will be requested once bookings have opened up for freighting, and Event Registrations are opened.  At this stage, BCT will, if requested by a zone, arrange collection of 2 carers and the Zone Bird boxes from Launceston Airport and return departure on Monday, with the assistance of BCT members, otherwise, Zones are welcome to make their own arrangements to the venue with the Bird Holding Room available from late mid morning Thursday 23 May.

We have been advised that Virgin Freight is now flying animals into Launceston Airport, in addition to Qantas Freight.  

Event Registration  - We are working towards a mid January opening of Registrations, but are mindful that all our organisers are volunteers, and while some are retired, others are working.   

Upcoming Fundraising:  As like Victoria and South Australia,  BCT will be conducting a  couple of “lucky square” bird raffles with  the first pair hopefully announced early February.  Further details on how to purchase tickets etc… will be advised shortly. 

The Country Club Resort has provided BCT with 2 nights accommodation (for 2 people – 1 Room)  and breakfast for 2.  Look out on the Event Registration to purchase tickets, raffle will be drawn on Sunday 21 May at BCT Shield Selection Show to allow the winner to use as a credit for their accommodation or taken at a later date.

If there is any businesses or budgie enthusiasts that may have items that would be suitable as raffle prizes for our “over the weekend raffle” to be drawn during the Presentation Dinner, BCT would welcome an email to  info@nationals2024.au
